Jazz Orchestra and PS 161 Chorus Give Concert
On Saturday, April 4, NDI's Jazz Orchesta along with the PS 161 NDI Chorus, under the direction of Teaching Artist Neal Kirkwood, performed for NDI's Advanced Team dancers, teachers, staff and parents. In addition to showcasing music by such jazz greats as Duke Ellington, the children performed songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, inspired by NDI's 2008-2009 curricular theme: John Lennon: His Life and Legacy. They also paid tribute to the legendary Aretha Franklin with a peformance of the hit song, "Respect."
