NDI 30th Anniversary Season: An African Village
How is NDI celebrating our 30th Anniversary?
By uniting with MILLENNIUM PROMISE to provide
HEALTH and HOPE to an African Village
Over 25,000 New York City school children have been touched by the dance, music, visual arts and culture of Africa as NDI celebrates its 30th Anniversary Season, An African Village. Through a partnership with economist Jeffrey Sachs and the Millennium Villages Project, children have also learned how they can help end extreme poverty in the world as they discover the gift there is in giving.
NDI Children Raise $25,000 for the African Village of Potou, Senegal
Thousands of children of NDI took up economist Jeffrey Sachs' Millennium Challenge of ending poverty in Africa, one village at a time, by raising small amounts of money in different, inventive, inspiring ways, for the village of Potou, Senegal. NDI's Pennies for Potou initiative began last spring when fifth graders at PS 116M collected pennies and other coins, raising $523 in two weeks. An NDI board member matched the grant, bringing the total raised to $1000
This year, NDI's children raised $25,000 to support the village of Potou.
