NDI Dancers perform in the 2008 September Concert
30 National Dance Institute dancers, ages 8-15, gave a rowsing performance in Rockefeller Plaza on September 11 as part of the annual September Concert, an annual global event dedicated to spreading the message of peace through music. Hosted by Tishman Speyer, the event drew large crowds to the plaza located in Mid-Town Manhattan.
September Concert founder Haruko Smith was on hand to introduce the dancers who performed favorites from NDI's repertory, including "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" and "Appalachian Clog." The dancers also premiered a new work entitled "Let it Be," choreographed by Bianca Johnson in tribute to the theme song for this year's September Concert.
During a break in the performance, NDI Teaching Artist Mary Kennedy led the dancers, as well as members of the audience, in an energetic dance class demonstrating NDI's unique teaching methodology.
