NDI Collaborative for Teaching & Learning
Professional development for teaching artists, dance educators, musicians, and arts organizations worldwide.
Transformative Professional Development for Arts Educators
The NDI Collaborative for Teaching & Learning offers transformative professional development for arts educators rooted in our award-winning NDI Method. Through public workshops, customized trainings, and international partnerships, we help teachers from all dance backgrounds learn and employ new strategies to motivate, engage, and inspire diverse learners. Our experiential training programs combine joyful dance classes, mentored teaching opportunities, stimulating discussions, and live music.

About the NDI Method
The NDI Collaborative launched in 2019 in response to increasing demand for training in our effective and widely-acclaimed teaching techniques. Originally developed by NDI founder Jacques d'Amboise, codified by Artistic Director Emerita Ellen Weinstein, and continuing to evolve under Artistic Director Kay Gayner, the NDI Method embodies our philosophy of:
Joyful and rigorous learning for every child
Teamwork and respect for others
Culturally responsive pedagogy
The power of performance
Since the NDI Collaborative launch, we've trained over 2,500 dance teachers nationally and internationally, reaching 41 states and 22 countries. Our programs are strengthened by equity and inclusion, and we're committed to serving diverse participants in all of our teacher trainings.
“What was beautiful about this workshop was that it did so specifically fulfill the needs of our organization—a classical ballet training program—and also, very importantly, we gained a sense of real camaraderie.”
—Harriet Clark, American Ballet Theatre , Principal Teacher, JKO School Children’s Division (New York, NY)
“This was the best investment I have made for my faculty to help them find new ways to teach. They left feeling great!”
—Anne Brodsky, Encore Dance Theatre , Dance Studio Owner & Artistic Director (Sunrise, FL)
“I would recommend this workshop not only to dance teachers, but directors of theatres and companies of all ages. I think the core values can extend to any age, type, and level of performer.”
—Alexis , participant of NDI’s Introductory Workshop
