Teaching Special Populations

Spring session: March 16-18, 2012
Location: New York City
Fee: $200*
(*$150 for participants of NDI Teacher Training Workshop)

This intensive workshop introduces participants to NDI’s successful methods for teaching dance to special learners. Led by NDI Master Teacher and clinical psychologist Dr. Jenny Seham, the workshop explores NDI’s unique strategies for teaching students who are blind and visually-impaired, deaf and hard-of-hearing, and orthopedically, emotionally, or cognitively challenged. Participants will put NDI’s methods into practice working with dancers at NDI partner school Lighthouse International. All will emerge from this experience with powerful tools to discover the strengths and meet the needs of special learners in diverse settings.

Teaching Special Populations may be taken alone or as an extension of the two-week NDI Teaching Artist Training.
