2009 Irene Diamond Summer Institute
During the month of July, nearly 100 dancers from NDI's Advanced Programs received full scholarships to attend the Irene Diamond Summer Institute. In additional to their classes in ballet, tap, jazz and music, the children explored movement inspired by NDI's 2009-2010 curricular theme, Storytelling Around the World.
NDI welcomed Master clogger Kim Fore, who led the dancers in a clogging workshop, as well as two of NDI’s alumni, Danny Rodriguez (’06) and Bakari Nicholas (’08), who returned to assist during the Institute. The Institute culminated with open classes and a presentation of the summer’s work for parents, friends, supporters, and community members.
Teaching Artist Dr. Jenny Seham works with visually impaired dancer Gaby, a student from NDI's program at Lighthouse International.
