NDI expands its Harlem reach through new school partnerships

National Dance Institute launched its fall In-School Program with special two-week residencies in three public schools in Harlem.  These new partnerships, funded by a generous grant from Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, coincided with the opening of NDI’s new home, the National Dance Institute Center for Learning and the Arts, located at 217 West 147th Street.  NDI conducted a rigorous application process with the help of superintendent Gale Reeves in order to select the three District 5 Harlem elementary schools that include PS 123, PS 161 and PS 175.  The transformational impact of the NDI program was immediately recognized by the new school communities, and through the support of the leadership, two of the three schools have successfully raised funds to continue the NDI program for the entire school year.  The third school is planning to formally institute the NDI In-School Program year-round in the fall of 2012.
