National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts Opening Celebration
October, 2011
After 35 years, NDI finally has a permanent home. On Tuesday, October 11, Mayor Michael Bloomberg joined Founder Jacques d'Amboise, Artistic Director Ellen Weintstein, NDI dancers and hundreds of friends to celebrate the official opening of the new National Dance Institute Center for Learning & the Arts.
Also on hand for the festivities were Commissioner of New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Kate Levin, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce President Lloyd Williams, and District 7 Councilman Robert Jackson, and Harlem Arts Alliance Chairman Voza Rivers.
The new NDI Center is comprised of four studios including a 175 seat Performance Space, two galleries and administrative offices, and is located on the ground floor and basement of P.S. 90, a mixed-income condominium developed by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development and L + M Development Partners.
