NDI's 2010 Event of the
Year: THE STORYTELLER |
Greetings to all!
As
spring arrives in all its glory, NDI is bursting with energy and
excitement. Under the inspired leadership of NDI teaching
artists, over 4,000 children in 30 partner schools are preparing for
final performances. Throughout May and June, there will be 72
performances in all, celebrating Storytelling
Around the World, our theme for the year. The season will
culminate with
The
Event of the Year, starring 200 children from our SWAT and
Celebration Teams in six performances at LaGuardia High School Concert
Hall.
NDI's
mission of inspiring children through the best of the arts continues to
flourish. This year, we welcomed three new partner schools: P.S. 20
and P.S. 110 on the Lower East Side, and P.S. 347, the
American Sign Language School on 23rd Street. In addition,
building on teaching artist Emily Meisner's work with young children,
we have developed residency programs for kindergarten through 3rd
grade.
This
summer, we will be reaching across the globe through an exchange
program with the Children's Palace in Shanghai. With dance
and music as a cultural bridge, we will bring our worlds together when
five children from Shanghai travel to New York to participate in our Irene
Diamond Summer Institute. And in August, NDI dancers will represent
the U.S. in performances at the World Expo in Shanghai.
None
of these activities would be possible were it not for your friendship
and support.
I
hope to see you at one of our upcoming performances!
Most
sincerely,

Ellen
